Colds, colds, and an update
So an update is in order...The Garris fam is holding up right now...at least one of us is not sick...i.e. Corey. Since Rylee's birth she has had 3 colds, along with her big sister Ava...if you know Corey and I, you would know that we are the biggest germaphobs in the world, and so 3 colds is like sticking a dagger through our hearts. It has been so hard to hear my precious babies sick...and I have never felt so helpless. I too have been sick, and am finally beginning to feel better. the cold and flu season hasn't even begun!!! YIKES! So, I am praying that we are finally going to be taking a turn for the better. If you pray, please pray that God would protect us from more sickness. I really have been going insane.
Life with two kids under two has been hard, but rewarding. I can't say that a day doesn't go by where Corey and I are not laughing over something Ava said, or seeing Rylee smile. Corey always wonders how he got stuck with 3 drama filled women. (I look at it as passion, not drama! :0) Regardless we are really trying to enjoy the moments that we have with our sweeties in this season of life. It is a big challenge, but we have an amazing community that helps out when they can- by cooking us meals, cleaning, and even bathing my kiddos! We love our family here...
The sawmill campus plant has been hard, and amazing all at the same time. It has been rather taxing on Corey, but I have seen my husband grow leaps and bounds as a man, father, and pastor. He is so amazing. I am grateful that he finally gets to operate in all of the things that he is good at. It is not easy to do many things without him on Sundays, but the Lord gives me much grace to deal with everything I need. We are also officially mini van owners...of a 2009 Kia Sedona...very nice! We figure if we are going to travel anywhere- we are going to need the extra room! We have already planned to travel to Nebraska twice...once this November, and then again in April for a very special wedding. We are praying for good health and weather! Well that's it for now...if I get more time I will try to post a more detailed update!

Ava is 2!
Singing to our sweetie...
Hello Everyone,
Well it's official...Miss Ava is 2...she is so amazing, and we are grateful daily with how much she has grown. She asks questions, talks in sentences at times, and can really communicate rather well at this point. We spent her B-day with abuelo and abuela....it was wonderful...I will post a bigger update this week...when Iget more time...like when the kids are off to bed !

The Detailed Story...
So...the story...I will try to fit in everything in the order in which it all happened. I guess the first thing that you should know is that I went into false labor on Sunday the 16th. We went to the hospital only to be told that I wasn't experiencing any contractions, (hmm...it felt like contractions!)....and we were sent home. We went to the OB the next day, and she encouraged me to sit on an exercise ball to try and engage Baby Rylee into the birth canal. I sat, and sat on that thing on Monday, Tuesday, and of course Wednesday. I began to feel contractions throughout the day- same as on Sunday. Corey told me to "walk it off"...so I continued to walk throughout the day to "get rid of the false labor." Later on, they continued 10 to 8 minutes apart, but not terribly hard, or painful. I went to be around 11, but could not get to sleep- the contractions just kept coming. So, I went to the bathroom because I thought that I was experiencing some really bad indigestion. Well, the indigestion took a turn for the worse. I started to feel some serious pain back to front contractions...only the contractions were coming hard and fast...2 minutes apart. Corey said to me, "That's impossible..." I told him it really was possible, and if he didn't take me seriously, that we would be having a baby at the house! So, we left for the hospital, with contractions coming hard and fast. Corey pulled up to the front of the hospital, not the ER, which was of course shut...Car running, and pain coming harder and faster, Corey grabbed a wheelchair, and proceeded to try and flag the dead hospital to allow us in. With a couple of bumps and pushes into the doorway and elevator we made it up to the maternity wing. I was quickly checked...4 centimeters, and my water was bulging. They immediately wheeled me to a room, and connected all the things they needed to connect. My sweet nurse hooked me up with that wonderful epidural as quickly as possible, as from just seconds I had already progressed to 6 centimeters. They were afraid that I would not get the antibiotics that I needed for testing positive for Group B Strep. Thankfully they were able to get it in, and were careful to not break my water, as they felt would quickly progress labor. They did everything they could to keep her in...so we waited, and I progressed regardless of all they did to prevent it from happening. Finally the 4 hours had passed, and then they broke the water, which didn't take much...I progressed quickly to 10, and we waited for the doc to arrive. Finally she arrived and 5 minutes later we were blessed to meet Rylee Hope. She is so sweet...really sweet. We will try to post more pics soon! We also have some great shots of Ava stuck in a recliner...she had to be rescued. Too funny!

Trying to get Ava to count ...Too video shy...Silly girl!
(She really can count- but she is too video egocentric!)

July Update on Garris Fam...Lots to tell :)
So, I don't even know where to really begin since there has been so much going on in the past few months, that I am trying to pinpoint things and not miss the important stuff of which to speak of...So let's start with the easy stuff...:) I am officially 8 months pregnant now, and getting bigger daily...I am tired of the "She looks huge", the "Are you having twins?", the "Any day now huh?", the looks, the stares, the general whispers behind my back...Of course I am getting pretty big, which doesn't help the ole self esteem. BUT, the good news is that this little girl is a mover and a shaker, and overall my health is good. I go in on Monday 7/20/09 to see if there is any dilation, although I am pretty confident that at 35 weeks there is still no movement there. We are praying that she comes early as it would be nice to not have my Mom take off of work. Her due date is August 24th, and my Mom's start for her job: you guessed it, August 24th....SO we are asking everyone to join us in prayer to have her come early. We shall see what happens.
Corey was officially licensed as a Pastor for the Vineyard on July 11th & 12th. It was a whirlwind of a weekend, and unfortunately this wife forgot the ole camera...so there are no pictures of the event. :( Our good friends Paul and Kelly Mazak threw him a party to celebrate...it was really a blessing from the Lord, and I was so proud of Corey. Things for the Sawmill Campus site have been moving along nicely...Lots to do, lots to pray for, and lots to be excited about. We are trucking along finding new hands to help serve, which has been amazing and exhausting for those on the core team to help recruit. We are still in need of people to work for Children's Ministry, but we are moving in the right direction. The set launch date is September 13th...
Our neighborhood is amazing, and we love where we live. A couple of the kids from the neighborhood have really taken a liking to Corey...a 10 year old boy named Mark comes around daily just to see if they can "talk"...Too funny! Our good friend Monica has been busy decorating, and is almost finished. We will give a nice video tour as soon as we can. :)
Ava is continuing to amaze us...make us laugh, and of course has gotten a little more...shall we say...independent (a.k.a cop an attitude at times). Her favorite song is, "God Bless America." She can sing it over and over and over. She even knows what word comes next in the song when you give her prompts. Some of her favorite things include, blowing bubbles, riding in her car, being outside playing, being inside playing in her kitchen, working on puzzles, playing with stickers, coloring pictures with Mommy on the deck, going out anywhere...She has started talking more in sentences, and consitently says "I love you..." Although she will say "I love you too Mommy/Daddy" even when we don't say it to her first...It cracks us up. We have a little video of her trying to sing, but she gets to disctracted...she wants to see and hear herself right away...(A little egocentric, but cute nevertheless). Enjoy the latest...

Ava's 1st Slow Dance
Ava & Jordan slow dancing, preparing for a wedding.
(Not theirs! :)- at least not for another 30 years- HA!)
Sun- Filled Days
So- I know that a big update is in order. I am going to try and summarize the last couple of weeks by saying that it has been an absolute blessing...We are officially all moved in to our new home. We had an incredible amount of help, and were able to be all moved in about 3 hours! It was AMAZING! Corey and I keep calling it our palace...the house is spacious, has an incredible backyard, great neighbors, and many other wonderful things. Corey and I daily talk about how amazing it is to have been blessed with this home, and are looking forward to the years that we get to spend improving and living in it :)...Corey has been busy mowing the lawn, and I have been busy trying to continue to "beautify" the rooms with a very good friend of mine Monica. Monica is amazing! Once I post pics of all that she has done- you will want to hire her as well! It is almost at that point where it is video recording worthy, and a post will be made to our blog :)
We also had some of our favorite people stay at our home. Grandma and Grandpa Garris, along with Aunt Meggan were here recently over Mother's Day weekend, and we enjoyed the fruits of their hard labor, and of course their company. They were busy cleaning gutters, painting, planting, and mulching...admist playing with Ava :)...Ava was once a bubble scary cat, and now she has become a bonified bubble addict! The girl loves to be outdoors, and would do anything she could to stay up 24 hours a day and play on a playground, ride her new car, or simply be out smiling at others when we go for walks. We were so blessed to have our family here, and were grateful that for once in our married life they were able to stay in the same place that we live!
Ava continues to amaze us, and bring us great joy. (Of course she has her moments!) My pregnancy is going well, and I am measuring on target, alhtough I feel like a fat cow. The other day a lady at the doc's office asked when I was due...when I proceeded to tell her August, she asked if I was having twins! UGHHH!!! Come on people- show a little compassion! :)...I will hopefully post pics of the new house by next week, but until then enjoy some of Ava & family. I will also be posting video footage of Ava's first haircut & slow dance with a cute boy (AKA, Jordan Mazak)...Enjoy!
