The Detailed Story...

Hello Everyone,

So...the story...I will try to fit in everything in the order in which it all happened. I guess the first thing that you should know is that I went into false labor on Sunday the 16th. We went to the hospital only to be told that I wasn't experiencing any contractions, (hmm...it felt like contractions!)....and we were sent home. We went to the OB the next day, and she encouraged me to sit on an exercise ball to try and engage Baby Rylee into the birth canal. I sat, and sat on that thing on Monday, Tuesday, and of course Wednesday. I began to feel contractions throughout the day- same as on Sunday. Corey told me to "walk it off"...so I continued to walk throughout the day to "get rid of the false labor." Later on, they continued 10 to 8 minutes apart, but not terribly hard, or painful. I went to be around 11, but could not get to sleep- the contractions just kept coming. So, I went to the bathroom because I thought that I was experiencing some really bad indigestion. Well, the indigestion took a turn for the worse. I started to feel some serious pain back to front contractions...only the contractions were coming hard and fast...2 minutes apart. Corey said to me, "That's impossible..." I told him it really was possible, and if he didn't take me seriously, that we would be having a baby at the house! So, we left for the hospital, with contractions coming hard and fast. Corey pulled up to the front of the hospital, not the ER, which was of course shut...Car running, and pain coming harder and faster, Corey grabbed a wheelchair, and proceeded to try and flag the dead hospital to allow us in. With a couple of bumps and pushes into the doorway and elevator we made it up to the maternity wing. I was quickly checked...4 centimeters, and my water was bulging. They immediately wheeled me to a room, and connected all the things they needed to connect. My sweet nurse hooked me up with that wonderful epidural as quickly as possible, as from just seconds I had already progressed to 6 centimeters. They were afraid that I would not get the antibiotics that I needed for testing positive for Group B Strep. Thankfully they were able to get it in, and were careful to not break my water, as they felt would quickly progress labor. They did everything they could to keep her in...so we waited, and I progressed regardless of all they did to prevent it from happening. Finally the 4 hours had passed, and then they broke the water, which didn't take much...I progressed quickly to 10, and we waited for the doc to arrive. Finally she arrived and 5 minutes later we were blessed to meet Rylee Hope. She is so sweet...really sweet. We will try to post more pics soon! We also have some great shots of Ava stuck in a recliner...she had to be rescued. Too funny!

Hello Everyone,

Sorry that I did not get around to this sooner- but I am only allowed two trips up the stairs a day right now, and since my husband refuses to learn how to post, and or learn anything technical at all, you are forced to live with some old shots of our pretty new addition to our home. Baby Rylee Hope Garris was born on August 20th at 7:55 a.m....8 hours of labor, 5 minutes of pushing. Rather remarkable story that I will detail as soon as I can. I am just trying to put up a couple of pics so you all get to meet her! She is quite the looker! The nurses on shift said that Rylee won all of the cutest baby on the block awards...:) I think they are right. I am going to try and post some more soon, as my Mom has taken most of the really cute shots. I am healing, but still in some slight pain...and Rylee we believe has her days and nights a little confused right now- please be praying she gets it right soon! :) I will try to update more as soon as I can...

And yet another shot...:)

Hello Everyone,
So I thought that I would take a minute to briefly update everyone on our status :)...I am about 2 centimeters dilated (about 1 1/2 to be exact)...so the birthing process has already somewhat begun. I have been having mild to moderate contractions throughout the day...no fun really...BUT it does draw us closer hopefully to the day we get to officially meet this little girl that we are so excited to meet! The Doc said no later than the 24th- so hopefully, Lord willing I will try to post some pictures as soon as she is born, or teach Corey how to do it, since he needs to learn something technical! LOL! We have been taking Ava to all of the past doctor's appts. She points at the belly and says "Baby sissy in there." We are praying that she adjusts well to the new addition in our home. I guess we all need prayer for that! :) My parents come into town this weekend. My Mom will be staying for the last couple of weeks to help me, as my big ole belly prevents me from doing many things lately. I CAN'T WAIT!!! For those of you who know my Mom she is AMAZING! Saturday couldn't come soon enough!
The Satellite Campus continues to gain momentum and has been so neat to see grow. Our core team is amazing...just amazing people...They each bring gifts to the table that truly complete everything that we need to get done. BUT they each share a common gift of service that is so unbelievably comforting and encouraging. I have posted some cute pics of Ava and the school in which we will be launching the new campus. We will hopefully have more info to post on Monday after my second to last doctor's appt.

July Update on Garris Fam...Lots to tell :)

Hello Everyone,

So, I don't even know where to really begin since there has been so much going on in the past few months, that I am trying to pinpoint things and not miss the important stuff of which to speak of...So let's start with the easy stuff...:) I am officially 8 months pregnant now, and getting bigger daily...I am tired of the "She looks huge", the "Are you having twins?", the "Any day now huh?", the looks, the stares, the general whispers behind my back...Of course I am getting pretty big, which doesn't help the ole self esteem. BUT, the good news is that this little girl is a mover and a shaker, and overall my health is good. I go in on Monday 7/20/09 to see if there is any dilation, although I am pretty confident that at 35 weeks there is still no movement there. We are praying that she comes early as it would be nice to not have my Mom take off of work. Her due date is August 24th, and my Mom's start for her job: you guessed it, August 24th....SO we are asking everyone to join us in prayer to have her come early. We shall see what happens.

Corey was officially licensed as a Pastor for the Vineyard on July 11th & 12th. It was a whirlwind of a weekend, and unfortunately this wife forgot the ole camera...so there are no pictures of the event. :( Our good friends Paul and Kelly Mazak threw him a party to celebrate...it was really a blessing from the Lord, and I was so proud of Corey. Things for the Sawmill Campus site have been moving along nicely...Lots to do, lots to pray for, and lots to be excited about. We are trucking along finding new hands to help serve, which has been amazing and exhausting for those on the core team to help recruit. We are still in need of people to work for Children's Ministry, but we are moving in the right direction. The set launch date is September 13th...

Our neighborhood is amazing, and we love where we live. A couple of the kids from the neighborhood have really taken a liking to Corey...a 10 year old boy named Mark comes around daily just to see if they can "talk"...Too funny! Our good friend Monica has been busy decorating, and is almost finished. We will give a nice video tour as soon as we can. :)

Ava is continuing to amaze us...make us laugh, and of course has gotten a little more...shall we say...independent (a.k.a cop an attitude at times). Her favorite song is, "God Bless America." She can sing it over and over and over. She even knows what word comes next in the song when you give her prompts. Some of her favorite things include, blowing bubbles, riding in her car, being outside playing, being inside playing in her kitchen, working on puzzles, playing with stickers, coloring pictures with Mommy on the deck, going out anywhere...She has started talking more in sentences, and consitently says "I love you..." Although she will say "I love you too Mommy/Daddy" even when we don't say it to her first...It cracks us up. We have a little video of her trying to sing, but she gets to disctracted...she wants to see and hear herself right away...(A little egocentric, but cute nevertheless). Enjoy the latest...
